Wonderful textures Erwin. I've been jonesing for a new piece from you. Thanks for supporting my addiction to your work. This totally makes you an enabler, but I won't hold that against you:)
Hi Erwin, just discovered your blog and am an instant huge fan!
I'm an illustrator working mainly with Photoshop and I'm really struggling to get the beautifully clean lines that you're achieving. When I use the lasso for selections (with a Wacom pen) I always end up with a slightly jaggedy line.....
Jago - I used the lasso tool for the fence. For everything else I used a hard edge brush at 100% opacity and pen pressure turned off under Other Dynamics. Make sure the round brush is at 100% Hardness and spacing at 1%. I also played with the roundness to get nice tapered lines. I also paint everything in layers so I can erase with a hard brush as well.
I love the way you mix the sharp shapes and angles, and the warm lights (the red tones on the hands are excellent) . And of course the composition, color,etc...Brilliant! Cheers! E.
Erwin, this is beautiful, I must come to your blog more often so I won't miss a thing, great layout and nice colors, and also love the characters, contrast and the mood. :)
