These are beautiful!!! (I'm including your previous post in that statement.) And such a wonderful departure from your other work. Very cool stylization! I see from your web site that they're personal projects...are they from stories? Is there more????

Can't wait to see what's next. Oh, and welcome to blogdom!

Thanks for the intro post on your blog.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the comment. I've been a huge fan of your work for a long time now and I heard so many great things about you and your teachings through co-workers like Yoriko Ito, Ruben Hickman, and Nathan Fowkes. When I started working on the Madagascar sequel last year it made me start thinking of new ways to stylize my own work. The majority of the paintings I will be putting on this blog will be an exploration of stylization, I hope. So far these images are nothing from actual stories, just quick random ideas but I will revisit some of these concepts later on because they were so much fun to paint.

Thanks Sorrentino!
To get my textures I play with the brush controls on photoshop a lot. After selecting my brush I increase the spacing and angle jitter and that's usually good enough.
